Figure: Close-up view of meanders in the Eberswalde delta.

This pictures demonstrates the complex history of fluvial avulsion and channel migration in the Eberswalde delta.

Coarse-grained channel belt deposits are held high. The finer-interchannel (floodplain) sediment is eroded by wind. The channel belt surface is severely pock-marked, suggesting an extremely old (Noachian) age (over 3 billion years).
