A few preliminary remarks

  1. This is not an extensive review of astronomy, but rather a collection of a few astronomical subjects that I have (subjectively...) found interesting. The number of chapters is constrained by the length of this class (4 days).

  2. Bear in mind that the material presented here is only a support for the 4 days astronomy class (corso di astronomia durante la "settimana di approfondimento") that I give at the end of March at my highschool (Liceo di Lugano 2). The oral explanations that flesh out this collection of pretty pictures is, at the moment, not included. I hope they will be for a future edition of the class.

  3. Each figure is accompanied by a Figure Caption (bottom left of each picture), where the Credits are mentionned. The source web-page from which the pictures were taken is also mentionned at the end of the caption. For most cases, this source web-page contains pictures, movies or animations at various resolutions and formats.

  4. These pages are best viewed with a Mac OS X Safari or a Mozilla Firefox browser and at a screen size of 1024 x 768. Do not attempt to view large movies directly over the net, but rather download them onto your computer and view them separately with the quicktime player (or some other appropriate player).

Enjoy !
